Attitude Walk

Last animation I did with the teacher Alberto Campos. It was really fun, we had a lot of freedom with this assignment. I made a zombie version of the pink panther! I learned a lot about how the weight is placed and how the limbs are moving on a zombie walk. I'm not satisfied with this at all but I learned a lot with it and for that I'm happy!

Walk Cycle

For this assignment we had to make a walk cycle with the Pink Panther. We had to make 3 key drawings; Middle position (also open legs), weight 1 (down position) and weight 2 (pass position). It's really fun and I want to try to make my own walk cycle again :)

In-Betweened Mickey

Here is my In-betweened magic Mickey. There are a lot of things that I could've done better but then I would rather like to start it all over.

Introduction to photoshop

For this assignment we had to make a monster in its own environments and colour it with different methods in photoshop :) I played around with some textures and a lot of layers, so it was really fun and I learned a lot. It made me want to use photoshop more in the future! (The last picture is very dark, sorry for that!)

Aisling In-between

Last week we had 3 days to in-between a scene from the Secret of Kells with the little girl Aisling. It was pretty fun and I learned a lot from it, I just wish we'd had it before making our Mickey scene, because it didn't really help me to in-between my Mickey scene, it almost only made it worse. But I am really satisfied in how this turned out!

Drawing for animation

Then another two weeks went on with Drawing for Animation with Frederik and Rebecca! It was really fun and I learned a lot about timing, spacing, tv-croquis and also to make continuity/Flow passes. We had to animate Mickey Mouse doing a magic spell while being very focused and then the spell doesn't work and he gets disappointed. It was a nice and comfortable method to use I think. The first week we spend on making 5 story telling keys that was really expressive and showed exactly what the character was going to do. The next week we spent on putting in drawings that explained the story a little more, especially how my Mickey was going to move his hands and how he would make the big wave with his arms.

Design with Lawrence

So these are my work from the first week with Lawrence Marvit. It was totally awesome and he's a cool teacher!

The first assignement we got was to place 3 rectangels and 1 line in a A4 paper without making them even. I got many mistakes, but I think I learned a lot from it!

The next assignment was about tasting 70%-85% dark chocolate and then draw with one line what you feel. It was really difficult, but at the same time fun.

The third assignment was to listen to a jazz album by Miles Davis - Kind of Blue and see what feelings I could get from it and then get it down on paper. I wanted it to feel a bit floaty and still very jazz like.

The last assignment for this week was to read an act from Hamlet and act it out on paper very simple with the dead king as a focal point and only black & white and greys. This assignment was really hard for me because I'm not used to draw environments.

Flour Sack

The last assignment we had with Laura & Jody was to animate a flour sack running from a monster and jumping over a small canyon. For this I made a video reference of myself doing the exact same thing as the flour sack were supposed to do. We had a storyboard to follow this time and we should also keep on 552 frames in two's.

Hitting a table

This assignment was to get an arm with a hand to hit a table and show the proper use of slow in & slow out, the sea weed effect and arcs. I used video reference for this one to see how the arcs was, it was very helpful. (We weren't allowed to draw a head)

Head Turn

This is my final head turn which I made in Laura and Jody's class. It was fun and I learned a lot, but I wish we've had another character because this one was really difficult to make a head turn of. I learned about slow in and slow out and how you blink everytime you make a head turn.

First 2 weeks on TAW

So here's the assignments I've done with our awesome teachers Laura and Jody the first two weeks on The Animation Workshop. It was really cool! I learned a lot and had a lot of fun with it.
Attitude Ball: We had to make a ball with an attitude. I got the angry attitude, so I had to make an angry ball. I hope it's clear that it is angry!

Sea Weed 2: I made a second sea weed to get the feeling of follow-through.

Sea Weed 1: We got an assignment to make a waving sea weed to learn the follow-through method in animation. This is the first one I did.

Heavy Ball: Here I used a bowling ball for reference when it gets dropped on the ground.

Light Ball: Here we had to use some light balls for references in real life to see how a light ball moves. It appears to be much more light and floating than the heavy ball.

Bouncing Ball: This was a really funny assignment! I learned about squash and stretch and also more slow in and slow out.

Swinging Pendulum that comes to a stop: Our first real animation assignment! It was really difficult for me to get this right and it's still not good, so I might practise on this much more. This was mostly about slow in and slow out.
